Overview

Partnership for Student Success is a community engagement program that brings together employers and schools to work directly with students to improve academic performance. The most successful programs are those that focus on specific academic achievement areas.

Some communities focus on improving middle school reading (Eugene, Corvallis, Hillsboro, Portland, Springfield), and connect employee mentors with students to help them improve fluency and comprehension skills. In Newberg, the community is focused on improving freshman writing skills, and still other communities focus on helping students understand what it takes to succeed in school and work (Bend-La Pine, Redmond, Albany and Salem-Keiser) through a combination of coaching, classroom presentations, mentoring, job shadows and office tours.

In every community, E3 is mobilizing employer and community volunteers to work with schools and improve academic achievement, increase graduation rates and better prepare students for college, work and citizenship.
