Writing Matters focused on improving the writing skills of high school students.  Nineteen writing mentors met weekly with students who needed writing support.  More than 40 guest speakers made classroom presentations connecting curriculum to success in the workplace.  Several organizations helped celebrate and publish student writing, including the Newberg Graphic’s monthly column of student writing.  The writing program also helped develop relationships with local businesses that translated into additional opportunities to connect with and support the school.  One example was the participation of 20 businesses and organizations in the Senior Project Fair.
